ASSIGNMENT

The Nowheresville Police Department requests your assistance in the investigation of Joe Jacobs and the suspected solicitation and distribution of contraband. Our officers have obtained digital evidence provided on this USB flash drive presented to you. We respectfully request a report to be presented to the Department no later than December 10, 2022 to highlight the deliverable identified below.

⦁ A completed chain of custody form (soft copy preferable)

⦁ A completed single-evidence form (soft copy preferable)

⦁ A four full page report containing the following information:

⦁ A paragraph introducing the case and allegations involved in the case

⦁ A detailed description as to the processes and methodologies followed to obtain and search the presented electronic evidence.

⦁ A list of the files identified, deletion status, and md5 checksums for the case file image and each of the 3 main files obtained.

⦁ Answers to the following:

⦁ Who is Joe Jacobs supplier of marijuana and what is the address of the supplier?

⦁ What crucial information was included in the cover page (Hint: Password)?

⦁ What (if any) other high schools other than Smith Hill does Joe frequent?

⦁ For each of the 3 files recovered in the main image, were any steps taken to obfuscate or hide tracks? If so what?

⦁ In addition to any of the findings above please provide an expert opinion and suggested course of action on the case.

⦁ Any lessons learned.
