The change agent must be able to explain their vision convincingly to every individual that will be involved in the change process.
Let’s consider the following example: When speaking to a colleague about an important decision faced in her company, she shared an approach that worked for her when convincing a key executive on a decision that would benefit the organization. She noted to this leader that the return on investment (ROI) would be higher by launching this project, and the value would be realized sooner. After planting the seed regarding this initiative, your colleague was patient. Interestingly, at the next business meeting, the executive mentioned that he approved the roll-out of the project discussed in the earlier meeting. Because it felt like it was his idea, he was all for it.
What’s your take on this example? Why does it matter where the idea originated? Discuss.
