ASSIGNMENT
Contextualizing the Essay: sociological concepts of acculturation and assimilation as they relate to the integration of immigrants into American society. Integration refers to the inclusion of immigrants into the social, cultural, educational, employment, economic, healthcare, and political institutions of the U.S. The integration of immigrants not only enriches the ethnic and cultural diversity of the U.S., but it also contributes to the American way of life and to the overall progress of the country. Successful integration into the U.S. is measured by the development made over time by immigrants and their children, as well as by the parity they manage to reach under key socioeconomic indicators with multiple generation Americans. Successful integration is the responsibility of both immigrants and American institutions and society generally.
