This assignment has two main parts. The first part asks you to narrow down your focus for a research question this semester, and the second part asks you to briefly describe two sources from the literature that you were able to find that relate to your question.
This assignment will be graded based on 1) completeness, 2) thoughtfulness on the questions that ask you to explain your answer, 3) description of the sources that you found. Please submit your assignment by either entering your answers directly into the text box, or by uploading your answers as a word document.
PART I: Deciding on a research question
What is the setting that you want to focus on for your research question (for example, your work, home, somewhere in the community)? Name and describe the setting, and explain why you chose it.
What is a problem that you could address in this setting by doing some research about it? Please describe in some detail what the problem is and why you are curious about it.
Put the problem into question form. What is your research question?
PART II: Reviewing the literature
What are some good search terms that you could use to find sources that are related to your question by using Swoop search? List the terms you used to search.
What did you think about using Swoop Search to look for sources? Reflect on the experiences in 2-3 sentences (was it easy or hard to use? Did you find a lot or not a lot of sources? Were you able to find the full text of the sources? Etc.)
List the names of two sources that you found that you think are relevant to your research question.Use the format: Authors Names (Year of Publication), Title of Paper or Book
What did you learn from reading these two sources that is helpful to you as you design your research study?
