Metalinguistic awareness, phonology and morphology.
The objective here is for you to begin to understand more fully metalinguistics, phonology, and morphology during the early primary years.
After you read this journal article answer these questions that we will discuss during our next class meeting:

- How are the groups set up? that is, who is be tested and for what?
- What is metalinguistic awareness?
- What are phonological awareness skills?
- What are morphological awareness skills?
- What role do these skills play in learning to read? Give examples.
- What role do home experiences play in the development of these skills? Give examples.
- How has your understanding of how children develop language during the pre-K and kindergarten years shifted after reading this article?
