The New York Times reported that as vaping-related lung illnesses continue to rise, federal and state health departments are investigating the risks.  In September 2019, Walmart announced that it would stop selling e-cigarettes at its stores in the United States.  This announcement is a blow to the vaping industry, as concerns mount over the health risks of the products and their soaring popularity among teenagers.

“Given the growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and uncertainty regarding e-cigarettes, we plan to discontinue the sale of electronic nicotine delivery products,” Walmart announced in a statement.
