ASSIGNMENT

You will chose a cultural artifact (a film, a painting, a poem, a song or anything created by humans) which demonstrates an aspect of intercultural communications, and use the theories and essays we have studied in class to examine the object. You can use two artifacts or objects if you plan to compare the two.

Do not use more than two.You must use at least two readings we studied in this class to analyse the object.

Do not write a paper without connecting the object to the theories we studied.For example, you could pick an ‘ethnic’ or ‘exotic’ object (can be music, food, and so forth) and examine how it is marketed and sold to the mainstream. This is just an example. There are many possible topics but it must be related to intercultural communications.

You should list at least six works in the bibliography with at least two from your assigned readings.The paper should be at least 1500 words. You must cite page numbers when using print publications.

Do not rely only on internet sources. Naturally, your paper should have a thesis statement and the entire paper should support this argument.
